I’m having a rough day and spent most of it on a trail and then in my garden. It doesn’t change the stuff that’s weighing on me, but there’s something about gardening that lifts the spirit.
Finding peace in the garden.

Gardening feels like meditation and therapy for me, and it has been that way for 35+ years. I don’t even keep all the stuff I grow—I donate a lot of it. For me, it’s about the experience, not the harvest.

I put up a little stand in front of my house filled with peppers, tomatoes, okra, watermelon, herbs. I grow way more than I can eat, and it’s such a joy to share with neighbors!
@Emory
That’s wonderful. It’s a generous way to help others.

I work in adolescent mental health and come home from 12-hour shifts at a psychiatric hospital. My therapy? Watching worms and bugs in my garden beds at night, just letting the soil calm me down. It’s like ‘Dirt Therapy’—keeping me grounded on even the toughest days.
It’s amazing how something so simple can bring peace.
@Clove
I love this! I just tried ‘forest bathing,’ but now I’m all in to try some ‘dirt therapy’! Thank you for sharing and for all the work you do.
@Skylar
Hahaha, love this! What did you plant? Looks like a lot of bulbs?

Yep, 446 bulbs, mostly grape hyacinths and Mexican star flower. Can’t wait to post a picture in spring!
@Skylar
I got a bunch of those too! Planning to add some tulips. Looking forward to seeing your garden bloom!
@Skylar
Is there a pattern in the planting?
Birds and insects need our help too. Growing anything green is a start. What else can we do?
Thinking of making a curry with the lemongrass and Thai chilies I grew. Something comforting for today. Hugs.
