I planted these lettuces a week ago and have been watering them daily. The temperature is rising here since it’s almost summer, and they don’t seem to be doing too well.
It could be because the variety isn’t heat tolerant, most lettuces don’t do well in heat
Try giving them more shade and water. The soil looks very dry

I water them every morning, but this photo was taken in the afternoon. Should I water them even more? Thanks for your suggestion.
@Rory
Water them in the evening instead. The cooler night air will reduce evaporation.
@Thorne
Look up plant respiration. They still need water even when the sun’s not out.
@Rory
Mulching might help hold moisture in the soil.

I live in Tauranga and planted lettuce here last year with good results. Maybe this variety doesn’t handle the heat as well as others.
The soil looks too dry, almost dusty.
The label said they can be planted year-round. Hopefully, the other lettuces do better. I’m still new to gardening, but I’m hoping for a good harvest. Thanks for all the advice!

You can grow them year-round, but try to keep them in a shady spot during warmer months. Otherwise, they might struggle, and the leaves can become tough.
They might be in transplant shock and possibly getting sunburned. Your soil looks really dry. Keep them well-watered and try to keep them cool. If they bolt, there’s not much you can do, but don’t worry too much.
The lettuces look dry and overheated.
Lettuce isn’t really a summer crop. Even if it was growing well, it would likely bolt in the heat.
Try complimenting them once in a while! Maybe a greenhouse or a frame tent to provide some shade would help. Just make sure the plants still get airflow. Water them every morning and check on them in the evening if they look thirsty, especially during hot days.

Their mother says they’re handsome.
It’s the things you don’t say that hurt the most
They look like they’ve had too much sun and not enough water.
