Who wins if you plant them side by side… bindweed or mint?

I’ve been wondering about this. If you plant bindweed and mint next to each other, which one would dominate the other? Or would they just coexist? Curious to hear what others have experienced.

I’ve battled both, and I think bindweed wins. Though honestly, they might just end up growing together in some kind of unholy alliance.

Yeah, like they’d join forces to create some nightmare hybrid plant… bindmint.

Your description is hilarious! Thanks for the laugh :joy:

I have both in my front yard. The bindweed has been weakened by weed killer, but the mint is thriving. Where they meet, it’s like they’re locked in some weird embrace.

I’ve seen them together, and they just seem to get along. Neither wins.

Definitely bindweed. The only way to get rid of it is to move.

I thought you said “mow” for a second and almost laughed out loud.

And don’t forget to burn your tools or toss them. Even a small piece of root can start it all over again.

Bindweed could probably survive an alien laser attack.

I’ve got mint surrounded by raspberries, but bindweed still finds a way to choke out the raspberries.

Meanwhile, the raspberries are like, “I know it’s up for me if you steal my sunshine…” :notes:

Bindweed survives the laser, but mint would sneak onto the alien ship and take over.

I found bindweed growing under a black liner in a greenhouse—completely white, no chlorophyll, thriving in total darkness. It’s terrifying how adaptable it is.

That’s horrifying.

Creeping Charlie beats both of them. Hate all three of these plants.

Same here! They’re the unholy trinity of my garden nightmares.

Bindweed. Its roots probably go miles deep. You’ll never kill it.

Miles deep? That’s gotta be years of growth!

Bindweed has taken over my yard. People ask how I got those ‘pretty white flowers,’ and I just smile… knowing it’s coming for their yard next.

Sounds like a horror movie.

In my yard, bindweed choked out a small tree while mint tried to take over my driveway. I thought I won by pulling them both, but I’m probably just fooling myself.
