I bought a bunch of metal baskets to repurpose for gardening, but now I’m not sure what to use them for. Any ideas for plants or ways to make them work in the garden? Help me out!
You can use them for planting tulip bulbs. Just bury the whole basket, and it’ll be way easier to lift the bulbs at the end of the season.
They’d be great for harvesting vegetables. You can spray off the dirt with a garden hose before bringing them inside!
I’d use them for hardier veggies like onions, potatoes, or carrots. If you’re thinking flowers, bulbs are a good option too.
What kind of metal are they made from? If they rust, they might not be ideal for plants that need consistent moisture.

They look like they’re made from galvanized steel.
You could try growing mushrooms! I’d love to see what you end up doing. Have fun with it!
Those baskets are super cool!

They’d probably cost $90 each where I live!
If you can add a lid, you could bury one and make an underground worm farm.
How about a succulent garden? Their soil needs good aeration, and the baskets would look cute. Just make sure they get plenty of indirect sunlight.
Hibiscus could work well! They’re beautiful, and you could even train them into bonsai trees.
These would be perfect for mushrooms.
I wouldn’t use them for planting directly. They’ll probably rust over time.
Maybe Cannabis Sativa?
If they’re stainless steel, you could line them with weed barrier fabric and plant almost anything. For outdoor use, you might need a drip tray underneath.

They look galvanized to me.
