What are your best gift ideas for gardeners

Niwaki hori hori

Okatsune secateurs

These are my top picks. I have both and they cover most of what I need.

Love my secateurs. Had them for 10 years and use them every day.

@Dru
Get left-handed secateurs if he’s left-handed.

Past gifts have included hori hori knives and a gardener’s bag for small items like secateurs and snippers. I also buy cyclamen and hyacinths in pretty pots since they’re good for indoor and outdoor use. This year, I’m giving gardeners in my life a Japanese bamboo pull saw. They work well and are compact, suitable for hard-to-reach branches.

I’ve gifted ocean plastic pots a few times. They make trowels and other items too, all made from washed-up plastic.

Vouchers for places like Crocus are easy, but let’s be honest. How many of us would skip the chance to buy a random plant we don’t plan for, simply because it looks nice?

Someone gifted me a box of useful items and it was fantastic! Plant labels, compostable seed pots and trays, empty seed packets for when flowers finish, a seed dispenser, some string, plus other little things. It all came in a metal box that I can keep other gardening items in. Way more helpful than gloves, which can be very personal. A flower calendar is also really useful.

RHS membership for a year is a nice gift too.

For plant pots, there are cute little animals or scenes you can add to your pots.

I asked my family for a Head Gardener mug to show my authority over anyone else at home who might have ideas beyond their place. I also need another pruning saw.

My favorite tool you wouldn’t expect is a good sharpener I use almost every day (I work as a maintenance gardener, and dull tools at work are the worst).

I don’t do well with houseplants. It’s like having more kids to take care of, along with my two human ones. People gift plants when they find out I garden. It’s fine if they can live outside but not when they require too much of my attention.

I’m posting some links from Amazon. My sister wants to gift me something for my birthday, and I have an old gift card too.

Here are a few items I found:

From the list, there are maybe only two or three items I’d appreciate. The hand creams for my dry hands, secateurs since I keep losing mine (even though I already have four pairs), and the garden seed subscription, that’s probably the only one I’d really use.

To be honest, as a gardener and allotment user, I’d really value a bulk bag of manure or compost and a voucher or subscription that lets me pick my own seeds and bulbs. Those are the two things I truly need and want as gifts.

Francis Tophill please.
