That’s called a Turk’s hat squash.

This happens because of cross-pollination. When two different varieties mix, you won’t notice the cross until the next growing season. The seeds carry the traits of both plants!

That’s really interesting! Thanks for breaking it down!

Pumpkins cross-breed with pretty much any squash around. They don’t discriminate!

Might need an NSFW tag for that ‘pumpgina’ :joy:

Pumpgina is officially my favorite word now. :rofl:

Wow, that’s pretty neat!

You’re not in the South, right? :joy:

Uh, sensitive content warning next time maybe? :grimacing:

That’s not a pumpkin; it’s actually a turban squash.

That’s what confuses me. I’ve had a bunch of pumpkins from this vine, all with normal bottoms. My biggest was 12 lbs, way more than the 6 lbs the wiki says turban squash gets to.

@Adair
(Edit) The wiki article says that. Just clarifying!

Did you inject it with something?

Oh, it’s from a movie called The Substance! Thought you’d seen it.

Haha, no, but I did inject the plant with BT earlier today for pests. Guess I gotta check this movie out now!

@Adair
Totally recommend it if you like weird, artsy horror!
