Excited to share my pomegranate tree!
Wow, what a nice crop! Is that in the ground?

Yes, it’s in the ground. It’s a 10-year-old tree.
@Taliesin
Yay!!
This trend reminds me of a couple of years ago when I found a huge mushroom while foraging. I posed with it and my knife like a hunter with their prey.
Oh my, what a healthy pomegranate! I’m guessing you’re in California or Arizona or somewhere with a Mediterranean climate? Do you know what variety it is?

Growing up in Arizona, these just grow like weeds in alleys and empty lots. We ate so many of them as kids. I didn’t realize until I moved away that you have to pay for them! Haha.
@Sawyer
I’m guessing in the valley? I’m trying to convince myself that a pomegranate can survive here in Prescott

Yeah, Tempe, central Phoenix. I think people planted them wild in the 60s and 70s. They grew along the central canal too. We’d ride our bikes from 40th Street to the Biltmore via the canal path and snack on these (and throw them at each other - they hurt) haha.
I bet they’d grow up there. They grow where I live now in San Francisco (not as well, but they grow and fruit).

Southern California here! I’m not sure about the variety. It came with the house when we bought it.
They’re so big and beautiful! Any tips? Mine are small and not great this year, and this is the first time they’ve fruited. How do you know when to pick them?

I’m not sure if this works, but I put Miracle-Gro soil around the base of the main trunk every spring. I swear I don’t do much else to it.
To know when to pick - it should feel heavy for its size, have a completely red rind, and the skin should be smooth but not shiny.
How big is the tree? I love pomegranates but have a small yard.

I trim it every year (toward the end of winter) and it grows back vigorously! It’s more of a shrubby tree rather than a traditional big tree. The one we have now is about 8 feet tall.

They don’t really get large. At least not mine.

Thanks, I’ll look into it!
That pomegranate looks wonderful!
What a fantastic contribution! Those pomegranates are beautiful, perfect for the ‘hold the crops’ vibe!
