How are my blueberries doing? Here are some before and after pictures, taken one season after planting

Attention everyone with berry bush issues! While my bushes aren’t thriving, they’re doing okay. I highly recommend planting legumes (like beans) around them—not for harvesting, but to let them drop and decompose. You’ll likely have an abundance anyway. This will add nitrogen to the soil, creating an ideal environment for berry bushes, and the bushes will benefit the beans in return.

It’s one of the best and most foolproof examples of companion planting!

If you prefer not to have large climbing legume vines or bushes, perennial peanut is an excellent nitrogen-fixing ground cover. It thrives in warmer zones and grows quickly enough to be treated as an annual in cooler climates.

Legumes are an excellent choice. Great suggestion! Berry bushes often look rough, so this should help a lot.

It’s one of the finest and most foolproof examples.
