Harvested my broccoli I started from seed back in March… success?

You’re eating like a king tonight!

I grow the mini kind to get a bunch of little heads… avoids losing it all in a few hot days and I don’t have to wait for one big one to grow.

Over on this forum they’d be impressed!

Keep trying! Broccoli can be rewarding to grow. It loves sun, a little food, and cooler temps. I start with little greenhouse plants because they seem to grow faster. I add fertilizer every couple weeks and get my big heads in about 60 days, both in spring and fall. You’ll love it!

Is it too late to start now at the beginning of November? I’m in Zone 7.

Yeah, it’s pushing it. I’m in Zone 6B, and I usually put them in mid-March for a May harvest. I do another round in early September to pick in November. But maybe try the greenhouse; some starters are tough and can handle down to 28°F.

Congrats! This is just the start… next time it’ll be an even bigger harvest!

Congrats! Fresh broccoli tastes way better than store-bought!

A beautiful sight of abundance!

Looks kinda like broccolini… but either way, it’s tasty!

I thought the same thing! Looks more like broccolini… the longer stems and smaller florets give it away. Still, I love broccolini; got some in my fridge!

You get the crudité award of the day.

It’s adorable.

I could post a pic of my bug-eaten, scraggly one… or the tiny zucchinis. Maybe next year I’ll beat you!

Respectable broccoli for sure.

Small now, but just wait till next fall… you’ll have more than you know what to do with!

Congrats! You did it!

More broccoli than I’ve ever managed to grow!

A good, healthy sprig!

That’s a beauty! My daughter and her grandma grew carrots this year, so I get how rewarding it is. Planning next year’s garden already!
