I’m 77 years old, and whenever I see dahlias, I always have wonderful memories of my grandmother, who grew them in her yard. She had the largest saucer-type dahlias I’ve ever seen. Even though she passed away over 25 years ago, seeing pictures or beautiful dahlias in someone’s yard always makes me think of her.
That’s so sweet. I’m glad these brought back such wonderful memories.
I might venture to say she’s thinking of you too!
My plants are only a quarter of this size. I didn’t disbud them when they first started growing. Could that be why they’re much smaller?
I’m not sure if leaving the early buds on affects the flower size. Perhaps you have the mini version of Cafe au Lait instead of the dinner plate variety?
I love dahlias! They’re my absolute favorite flower because they look stunning and smell wonderful. They make me feel a bit more girly.
Your flowers are beautiful! I don’t plant too many decorative dahlias since they’re not very useful for the bees , but I still sneak a few in each season because they look so stunning.
