Found this weird growth in my plant’s soil.

At first glance, I thought it was rosemary!

Yeah, definitely has the look of rosemary.

Looks like saprophytic fungi. Totally harmless! If you’re lucky, you might even get mushrooms popping up! :mushroom:

The spider egg comments are freaking me out, so I’m not sticking around to see mushrooms. :joy::sob:

@Morgan
Don’t worry! Mushrooms are actually really good for your soil.

You could take the rosemary out, shake off all the old soil, and repot it in fresh soil in a new pot. Clear plastic pots aren’t great for roots since they let light in, and roots don’t like light.

Thanks! I didn’t know that. I’ve always used clear pots because it’s easier to check the roots. I’ll switch to regular ones.

@Morgan
You could keep the clear pot but put it inside a decorative one. Makes watering easier too!

@Morgan
If it helps, I used to run a horticultural company, so I’ve dealt with this kind of stuff a lot.

That looks like flower pot fungus (sclerotium). It won’t harm your plant.

It might be some type of fungus.

Looks like you’ve got more than just herbs growing there!

I switched to coconut coir instead of soil for this reason. Soil always seemed to bring bugs or fungus.

Using wet-dry watering cycles can help avoid bugs, gnats, and fungus in the soil.

Nice.

Rosemary is pretty hardy. It should bounce back.

Looks like rosemary.
