What is your biggest plant care tip?

What one piece of advice do you wish you knew when you first started getting into the hobby?

Mine would be: Any spot in your house can have bright-indirect light as long as there is an electrical socket nearby. If you haven’t been blessed with a house full of south-facing windows, just make your own light with some grow lamps.

Actually LOOK at the plant occasionally- backs/bottoms of leaves and stems, because bugs are very small and easy to miss!

Seconding this. Sometimes I want to do SOMETHING with my plant friends, so I end up over-watering. But what I should really be doing is inspecting and dusting leaves.

In my house that’s called “plant gazing” and I do it all the time. Why have them if you’re not going to look at them??

@Case
Thanks for the name, I’m definitely gonna use it, although the habit itself when you have ADHD and a plant hyperfixation can be… detrimental :weary: I got distracted for about an hour with this “plant gazing” more times than I can count

@Vanya
Omg I spiraled for doing this myself today instead of studying for final exams… I didn’t realize this was a special flavor of adhd quirk :rofl:

@Vanya
Same here, i inadvertently spend hours “watering” my plants, but it’s because I get side-tracked, staring at them the whole time, looking for new little leaves or signs of changes… and just generally admiring them lol

@Case
We call it the walk of plants, it’s the best part of my day!

Overwatering means watering too often, NOT watering lots at one time.
