I honestly thought Maui Gold was something else! Surprised it’s pineapples.

Yep, pineapples! I should’ve been more specific

What’s with the forks in the dirt? I tried growing a pineapple once but it didn’t go as planned.

Ah, good question! The forks are for the squirrels. They kept digging up the crowns at first, so I put forks in the ground as a kind of scare tactic. Worked like a charm!
@West
Thanks! We just started getting squirrels where I live too.
@West
Brilliant idea! Those squirrels tore through my garden last year.
So how long did the whole process take?

Looks like it started in April 2023 and went through October 2024.
Haha, I always see people try to grow pineapples outside Hawaii, and they end up tiny! Mine grow big, almost like footballs. You should try white pineapples too—they taste like honey, and they’re worth way more than gold ones here.
@Clair
Oh, yes, the white ones are amazing! Whenever I hear someone rave about Maui Gold, I’m like, ‘You haven’t tried white yet, have you?’
Nature is so cool. I love that you can grow something like this from scraps!
That’s awesome!!
Are the solar lights for helping it grow or just for looking at it at night?
Growing pineapples sounds so fun! Just wish I had the space… and the memory to save my pineapple tops!
How did you fertilize them?

I just used some Miracle-Gro I had lying around. Probably not the ideal choice, but it did the job. From what I read online, a mild fertilizer is best.
