Found these fascinating fungi and had to share! What do you think of them?
For those asking, these are birds nest fungi. They’re definitely my new favorite!

They remind me of Reese’s cup wrappers filled with gray candy… Now I’m craving sweets!

I think they look more like Smarties, honestly.
@Fox
Wait, are you talking about the chocolate Smarties or the sugary ones we have in the US?

The chocolate ones! Where I’m from, the sugary ones are called Rockets.

It’s cool when fungi have such fitting names. Like, you just see it and go, ‘Bird’s nest fungi!’

But what about those round things and that bread-looking piece?

The round ones are unopened bird’s nest fungi, and the ‘bread’ is actually a rock next to an adenium plant. Hope that clears it up!
@Ember
Thanks! That rock seriously looks like bread. It had me confused for a second.

Haha, I see it now too! I just grab random rocks for my plants… Maybe someone here can ID it, but I’m guessing quartz?
Forbidden Reese’s cup.

These are so cool! I’ve never seen anything like this before.
Same here! They popped up out of nowhere and now I’m obsessed. Fingers crossed they stick around!
Looks like chocolate-covered coffee beans to me.
Had these in my garden last year! The ‘eggs’ even got stuck under my flower leaves. Thought it was a pest problem until I found the nests. They’re adorable!
They look like peanut butter cups you shouldn’t eat.
I hate these! They spread everywhere when I got a bad batch of mulch… My house and windows ended up covered in black spots.

Nature is incredible. These fungi are amazing!
Totally agree. It’s little things like this that make you appreciate it even more.
The first time I saw these, I was blown away by how tiny they are. Love this species!
