Surprises when I took off my summer supports…

Your yard is going to be full of mantises!

Please share some photos when you start seeing the tiny babies!

Yes, please share! You’re so lucky to have that.

I’ll try to get some photos.

I’ll try. I have an older video of one of the egg cases being laid.

Don’t bring them inside, please.

The little babies are so cute! We had some from a native egg case last year, it looked like this one.

Your garden is going to have no pests next spring or summer.

It’s true, but they can be pretty aggressive. They kill anything, not just pests.

I saw one eat a bee the other day. Didn’t expect that when the bee flew by the mantis.

@Spencer
They’ll even catch hummingbirds!

Those are oothecae, which are praying mantis egg cases.

That’s cool! What’s that?

A bunch of baby praying mantises (which are predatory insects) will hatch out of the eggs inside the ootheca.

Hi neighbor! We have these in our yard too, and I love how the tiny babies end up all over the yard!
