Sorted all my seed packs into a new case… anyone else this organized?

I just got some of those DeWalt sorting cases. They’re super handy for organizing seeds, but I wish the compartments were deeper so I wouldn’t have to fold some of the packets. Anyone else using these or something similar?

Yes! I need one deep enough to stand up coin envelopes. For now, I’m just throwing them in shoe boxes.

I saw something similar online. Not sure if it would work for taller envelopes though.

@Bryn
I’m using Kraft coin envelopes (size 6, about 6 inches tall). Perfect for seeds with fluff or chaff like native ones.

I use these instead: Amazon.com - Vtopmart 2Pack Large Stackable Kitchen Pantry Storage Drawers, Clear Organizer Bins with Handles, Acrylic Drawer Organizers for Kitchen Pantry, Bathroom Undersink, Cabinet Organization and Storage

They’re not as compartmentalized as yours, but I organize mine by year. One drawer for this year, one for last year, and one for all the leftovers from previous years.

This looks great! I keep finding seed packets in random places since last spring. I really need to get organized. Thanks for the motivation!

Haha, same here! I had to dig through drawers and random stashes. Feels so good to have them all in one spot now. :v:

I found cucumber seeds in my first aid kit last week… ADHD and gardening really is an adventure!

Right? The hyper-focus is great until you leave seeds in the fridge or pantry and totally forget about them.

@Lennon
Exactly! And then when you need them, they’re nowhere to be found. It’s like having black holes in your hands. Things just disappear!

Yes! The black holes are real! Glad I’m not the only one who deals with this. :joy:

@Lennon
Happy organizing! May all your trowels and seed packets stay where they’re supposed to!

I need something like this for my seed collection!

It works great for organizing produce packs. :ok_hand:

That’s one tactical-looking seed box.

What’s the germination rate on old seeds? I thought it drops off a lot after a year or two.

It depends. My saved seeds have lasted up to 10 years (even parsley and squash!), but store-bought ones can be hit or miss.

This setup is goals! Mine are just tossed in a tote, kind of organized but mostly chaotic.

This is definitely a step up from the picnic cooler I used before. Digging through bags was such a headache.
