Lay some soakaway pipes leading at a slope to the lowest part of your garden and then into the river at the end Put the pipe on a deep gravel bed and cover it with gravel Then add about 30cm of topsoil Job done

A pair of these should help
You can really buy anything on Amazon
New build on a flood plain, no plants, big tiled area, probably an SUV or two parked outside and suddenly it’s flooded
How high is the water table typically
Have you tried aerator shoes They might help

What about planting mangroves
Maybe add a few hippos too
Have you seen the flood risk map If it’s at risk of flooding you won’t have many options aside from building a wall to redirect the water
A few pokes with a garden fork should help But seriously, what’s causing the color Is there a lot of heavy clay in the soil near you
It will bounce back just fine I know from experience I had a garden underwater for two weeks, and once the water was gone you couldn’t tell at all
On the bright side, the silt from the river brings nutrients to the soil and makes it very fertile
As many have said, planting trees in the wet areas of your garden to soak up excess water is a great idea If you opt for willows, you can prune them and collect the rods for weaving If you aren’t into that, I’m sure a local class or craft group would appreciate the material
Step one drain the pond
Long term, I’d put in some French drains If possible, dig a drainage ditch and berm along the back of your yard
I have a brook in my yard I use goat willows for that So that would be my suggestion
Maybe buy some fish and consider opening a fishing spot for people
Expect regular flooding Make layered heights and plant swamp tolerant trees and bushes
Unless the water stays for a long time, your grass should be okay
Use this chance to observe where the water enters, flows, and drains from your garden In spring, adjust the ground to help the water move along its path more easily
From what I see, the water gathers against the right fence before flowing into the field Try to create some gaps to prevent water from getting trapped in your garden
I’d create a wall with gabions sunk into the ground and raise the level of soil using hardcore and fresh topsoil This will require a lot but seems to be the only way forward Just a wall alone won’t hold up for long and the high water table will make the garden soggy
More goldfish would be a fun idea
Maybe start a water park
Dig some sump holes and fill them with stones
