When I picked up my 11-year-old from his dad’s, the first thing he did when he got home was check out the garden! He hadn’t seen how much it grew while I was sick.

@Blaine
That’s adorable! Maybe he’ll develop a green thumb.
Hopefully! He’s really picky about food textures and flavors, but he even tried blackberries for the first time. I’m hoping he’ll try everything we grow!
@Blaine
One of my kids has ARFID, and getting them into gardening and cooking helped a ton.

I’m away right now, so I make my husband send me updates about the plants and the cat.
The joy of watching plants grow is something only those who invest the time understand. My garden is my zen place. I visit it daily, even if it’s just to sit there.

I’m planning to get an egg chair so I can relax and enjoy the garden while working sometimes.

Gardening is so calming. Even when I’m not feeling well, spending time with my plants makes me feel better.
That’s why we’re here! This forum gets it! When my first basil started growing, I sent my sister a full photo album.

Exactly! I could make a whole photo album too. My friends think it’s cool, but I’m like, ‘Be more excited, please!’

Aww, look at those tiny strawberries!
If you ask them, they’ll probably say they’re normal-sized strawberries.

Pretty soon, they’ll want their own space!
@Dakota
If they keep producing, I’ll give them their own planter box!

You can never have too many planter boxes!
@Madden
The downside is needing a lot of materials if you want a big space. In-ground gardening can be simpler to start.
@Madden
I use a planter box and have been trying to convince my landlord to let me turn part of the yard into a long raised bed. It’s worked great so far with soil I got from a local hardware store.
I know what you mean. My best friend and mom are probably sick of hearing about my garden.
My family doesn’t share my excitement, but they love eating what comes out of the garden, so I’ll take it.

That’s some passive support.

Your garden is amazing! Your friends don’t know what they’re missing—this is exciting!
Right? It’s been less than a month, and everything is thriving! Gotta love the Australian summer.
