My first pumpkin stand... any tips for next year?

Looks great! A couple of suggestions to maybe sell even more: The white text on your sign is hard to read against the yellow, and maybe adding prices would help!

Thanks so much! I ended up redoing the sign with black marker because I realized the same thing after the first day. That’s why my stepdad made me the misspelled one, haha! I’ll definitely add prices next time.

Congrats!! :star2: Gardening and selling to your community is so beautiful. Even if people don’t buy anything, just seeing you out there can inspire others. In times like these, simple things like this can make a huge difference.

@Hayes
Omg, your comment actually made me cry :sob: Thank you so much. I hope others get inspired too!

This is so wholesome! Your pumpkins look awesome!

Will you marry me?

Haha, thanks, but I think I’ll pass! Would you like to buy a pumpkin though?

Sure! I’ll take two big ones!

Total goals! You go girl!

Omg, thanks! Though your username doesn’t quite match the compliment :joy:

Haha, let’s just hope we don’t run into each other in other threads then!

@Kim
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :joy:

I saw your post in the ‘tall’ forum earlier. Are we both tall gardeners now?

Haha, tall farmers unite! :medal_sports:

Did you make a profit?

Did you make a profit?

Land cost: $270k
Well: $60k
Solar: $40k
Taxes: $8.4k
Irrigation: $25k

So, no, I didn’t make a profit :joy: but I had the best summer ever, and that’s what really matters. People were happy to buy my pumpkins, and I loved it :jack_o_lantern: :woman_shrugging:

@Soren
Wow, landowner! Not many people know what truly makes them happy. Congrats to you :clap:

OP, are you ‘living like Larry’ with that sunburn?

Haha, I don’t know what that means, but the burn wasn’t too bad. I’ll survive!

It’s a SpongeBob reference. Larry the lobster is bright red just like your back! Jealous that you’re in San Diego—so much easier to do cool stuff compared to inland.

How much do you charge per pumpkin?

$40 for large, $20 for medium, $20 for butternut squash. I usually did a bundle deal like $30 for a medium pumpkin, butternut squash, and a baby one.

At pumpkin patches in my area, they charge $60+ for large ones, so I try to keep it fair. I even give away the small ones with purchases!
