I have Morning Glory growing all around my house. We pull out tons of it, but we always get a few surprises. They are one of my favorites, so I don’t mind. This morning, my husband showed me a unique one. We’ve never had a Morning Glory like it before. He says it’s growing out of a Lily plant. It has ivy-shaped leaves, unlike our other Morning Glories, which have heart-shaped leaves. Is this unusual coloring a fluke? I can’t find any information about it online.
Such a vibrant color!
It’s a beautiful color, but this plant spreads its seeds everywhere. It releases a ton of them! I originally planted them to hide an ugly fence, but since early spring, I’ve been pulling young plants out of the bed where they used to grow. I could probably find twenty to thirty new seedlings out there right now. They also climb and choke other plants to reach the sun. Never again!
I made the same mistake! They’re now taking over my pecan tree!
I think anyone who plants this should be responsible for doing the yard work in all the yards it invades!
Would it stay contained in a raised bed or pot, or does it spread out?
I have a few of those too! I’m not sure how it happens, but it’s awesome!
I’ve heard that soil acidity can influence their color, so perhaps there’s a genetic factor partially blocking the mechanism.
My wild ones are usually all purple, but this year I found a couple just like this! I was so excited to see them!
Edit: The colors don’t look as vibrant in the pictures for some reason; they’re much nicer in real life.
It’s just like with mice—there’s never just one!
Trust me, you won’t feel that way for long!
