Thanks, i planted them at the end of April this year because the forecast was unseasonably warm but usually I’ll plant my carrot seeds mid-may. i just picked them this morning so they were seed to harvest 6 months or so on these. As soon as they established i thinned out the rows. It’s IMO the most important step. I picked this one about 10 weeks ago so i think they have been pretty sizable for a while. The only thing I will say about picking after a couple of lite frosts is that the carrots are super sweet. They can handle 28⁰+ so i try to hold off as long as I can.
@Beryl
Thank you When you thin them do you replant them or just throw away the ones you thin out Also wow those carrots are huge super jealous

No, simply throw them in my compost bucket. It may seem contradictory when you’re tugging, but it will give you a grasp of useful monsters or a bunch of little, worthless carrots.
@Beryl
Thank you And yeah gardening is scary and risky but the result is totally worth it Less is definitely more
@Beryl
My formula for carrot soil is equal parts soil, compost, and coco coir, followed by perlite and sand. Wait until that is DEEP if you only plant in the ground and not in beds.
Since I grew up on raised beds, the conditions were ideal.
Carrot greens are seen on the right side of the grey bed in front.
I hope you persist in your efforts. Best of luck
It feels good to see the harvest after all the hard work
Those look so delicious
You really grew some lovely carrots
