How to make a homemade cherry tomato cage?

Love it! No need to buy extra junk. Based on my experience with cherry tomatoes, though, those cages are going to need to be a lot bigger! Luckily you can add to them as the plant grows.

Thank you! Yeah, we we’re thinking the same here :joy: we’ll eventually make them bigger

my grampa loves to grow tomatoes but we always end up killing them right before they produce fruits lol. i should show him this!

It’s my first time growing anything. I’ve reached for help here previously and people told me to cage the tomatoes as soon as they start producing flowers, which is why I made the cages in the first place. Totally worth a try!

Hello I’m starting to grow cherry tomatoes as well! Are yours perennials?

Hey! Sorry, I’m a total beginner to gardening and don’t really know, these are just tomatoes I planted from some I got at the grocery store. Is there a way I can know if they’re perennials or not?

@Amari
No worries, perennials are plants that make fruit and live as long as something doesn’t kill them, the rest of the tomatoes die off after fruiting a big batch of tomatoes and then when winter hits they basically die. If you live in a warmer place, your plant may live a bit longer. In colder weather, it lasts a bit shorter. But the range is often 5-6 months. If you look at the tag or if they were seeds, check the bag. If you find the name of the tomato, it will tell you if it’s perennial or not.

@Ren
I see, thanks for explaining! I think they were of the minibel variety… If so, they’re most likely annual, as far as I’ve read online

Yes, your tomatoes are likely annual, so they should make a pretty big amount of tomatoes in a short time, like in 2 months.
