HELP! Accidentally ruined my neighbor's garden… Need a heartfelt “I’m sorry” gift idea for a true gardening lover!

If someone wrecked my plants, I’d be pretty upset. But as long as you’re not to blame, offering funds to replace the plants would mean a lot. The only thing that’d bother me is if they were rare or hard to replace.

@Blue
Maybe offer to help with the replanting too.

Good idea, especially since she’s older and might appreciate a hand.

A heartfelt note and a Lowe’s gift card sounds perfect. Gardeners can be particular about their tools and plants.

Honestly, a mature Japanese Maple fixes just about anything in my book! But who knows if your neighbor feels the same way.

Haha, are you me?

Ugh, contractors… why do they do stuff like this? They should be way more careful. Even though they’re paying, it doesn’t fix the years she’s spent growing those plants.

I can tell when a garden was done by a gardener vs. a contractor! I’d never touch plumbing because I’m not trained. And don’t even start me on contractors dumping waste in gardens.

Exactly! What were they even thinking?

Some contractors do great work, but once companies get bigger, quality often slips. Sounds like the contractor is covering the costs here, which is about all they can do.

I feel this. My new flower bed got squashed by an excavation crew. It wasn’t even expensive, but I was so sad. I had been looking forward to those flowers.

Gift card to Home Depot and offer to help with the planting. She’ll appreciate it.

Maybe go a step further and plan a day together to plant the replacements. Older folks sometimes appreciate the company most of all.

Add some homemade cookies or a bottle of wine too.

How about a nice pair of Japanese gardening shears, like Niwaki secateurs?

Some people only plant certain types, like natives. I’m very specific with what I plant, so tools are better than actual plants.

@Harlan
Totally agree! At first, I thought you meant Japanese plants! Haha, long day over here.

Haha, I was replying to OP! My bad.

If you don’t have a good local option, maybe a gift certificate to gardeners.com. They have a lot of great gardening supplies.

This is the best idea!

Gift card plus maybe offer to help in her garden and bring some cookies too!
