Right! You don’t eat the leaves; they’re just for flavor. After cooking, they’re removed like bay leaves.
Got it! That’s really neat.
Here’s an article that explains it more: Cooking with Tobacco.

@Avery
Thanks! I’ll dive into that later—it sounds fascinating.
@Finley
Yeah, it’s only illegal in about 11 states where cotton is grown commercially. I learned this when I wanted to grow it myself but found out it’s banned here in Texas.

It’s legal in California, but the seeds have to be certified.
This is so cool! Can you share the link where you got the seeds?

I’m in Malaysia, so I used Shopee. I wouldn’t recommend it, though—I’ve been scammed before. Also, I don’t think Shopee operates in the US.
@True
Thanks for the info anyway. I appreciate it!

Just make sure it’s legal to grow cotton where you live!

Wait, cotton is illegal in some places?!
@Micah
Yes, in certain US states where it’s grown commercially, because of the boll weevil pest.
This is awesome! Do you have any plans for what to do with the cotton you harvest?
Where did you get raw, unprocessed cotton?
Is your name Joe?

Away down south in the land of traitors…
I love growing cotton! I plant a few each year and save the seeds for the next season. The flowers are so beautiful.
When picking cotton, the stem tends to peel rather than snap, so you need to use a lot of force, often with both hands. It’s tough if you don’t have proper scissors!
