We grew carrots in clay soil. They came out looking kind of like this. Not very pretty. But still edible.

They need a better growing environment. Nice, well-dug soil, compost. Water them, feed them, and add organic materials.

The soil is too compact.

It wasn’t hot enough.

I wish I knew how we obtained this to provide guidance, but we had no expectations and just planted this guy in a small, open area of the garden to see if it would accomplish anything.
