Best Fall Flowers for Your Yard

What are some of the best fall flowers that grow naturally without planting, watering, or fertilizing? I have some that bloom every year between my trailer and fence, and the bees absolutely love them.

These flowers are beautiful and appear to be a type of aster! Since asters are native to the US, it makes sense that the bees are so attracted to them if you’re located there.

Yes, they are a type of aster. Given that you’re in the Pacific Northwest, it’s no wonder the bees love them so much!

Asters, the flower of September, are truly beautiful.

Sadly, these beautiful asters are rarely seen in this location. I plan to harvest some seeds to share with other gardens.

I wish I had your luck with beautiful plants growing on their own! The only self-sowing plants I have are hollyhocks, which I adore, but they quickly get fungus and turn unsightly. Next year, I’ll try using copper fungicide as soon as they sprout and see if that helps. I’ve read that the fungus is soil-borne and tough to eliminate, so we’ll see how it goes. Regardless, your asters are gorgeous!

Thanks! I’m planning to harvest the seeds and try planting them in a different location.
