Anyone else into persimmons?

Just sharing some photos of my persimmon harvest. Anyone here a fan?

You chose a unique spot for them.

Some of us are really passionate about our gardens!

Do the persimmons approve of being piled like that?

@Finch
They seem content… just waiting to be eaten!

It’s just temporary. I pick the almost-ripe ones, let them sit in a container until they’re perfect. Just had 6 after dinner!

This would make a lovely painting.

Brings back memories of my first home. We had a small persimmon tree, and I’d bake fresh persimmon cookies with raisins and cinnamon. Warm from the oven, they were amazing!

I haven’t tried baking with them! Usually, my partner and I eat them ripe, but now I’m curious to experiment.

The colors in your photo are beautiful. Is this your home or set up intentionally?

Even the lighting looks so perfect.

It’s just our guest room repurposed to store fruit. There’s also some tomatoes in pots nearby. Pure coincidence, but thanks!

What a beautiful sight! A big fruit harvest always brings so much joy. You must have so many ideas for them!

Thanks! I’ll definitely try out some recipes this year.

If those persimmons are ripe, won’t they make that blanket sticky? But if the blanket’s clean, I’d guess they’re not ready to eat yet.

Unripe persimmons… all the dryness in your mouth, none of the fun.

Depends on the variety. The flat Fuyu ones can be eaten while firm, but the pointy Hachiya ones are the astringent kind.

I keep the almost-ripe ones in a container until they’re ready. The ones in the bags were getting squished. But can you explain more about the blanket thing? I’m not a native English speaker.

@Finn
I just meant that ripe persimmons can be messy and could ruin the blanket.

Got it. I was careful, but thanks for the tip!

This reminds me of something you’d see in an old painting!

Totally looks like art!

Feel free to send some my way!
